ConfigMaps
A ConfigMap is a Kubernetes API object used to store non-confidential data in key-value pairs. Pods can consume ConfigMaps as environment variables, command-line arguments, or as configuration files in a volume.
apiVersion: v1
kind: ConfigMap
metadata:
name: game-demo
labels:
app: game-demo
data:
# property-like keys; each key maps to a simple value
player_initial_lives: "3"
ui_properties_file_name: "user-interface.properties"
# file-like keys
game.properties: |
enemy.types=aliens,monsters
player.maximum-lives=5
user-interface.properties: |
color.good=purple
color.bad=yellow
allow.textmode=true
Creating a ConfigMap
- From files
kubectl create configmap [name] --from-file=[filepath]
- From environment variables
kubectl create configmap [name] --from-env-file=[filepath]
